Cinema, magazine editorials and the catwalk provide a visual representation of a narrative that deals with the human experience. Dressed Cinema seeks to examine and explore the common thread of clothes, costume and cinema and present it in a concrete visual experience. In 2011, Dressed Cinema started out as a blog mainly focused on costume designers and their influence. But it has since evolved into something that explores the cyclical nature of fashion. Dressed Cinema features fashion designers’ collections that have been directly or indirectly inspired by a particular film or film era, costume designers’ inspirations from the runway or the current vogue, as well as similarities between each medium’s aesthetics. Some pictures, you will find, are simply fun to look at in a juxtaposed fashion regardless of mutual inspiration. I hope you enjoy reading it almost as much as I enjoy writing it.
